Re: The Last Jedi - spoileriffic thread
I can't find myself particularly arguing with much of what's been discussed above. In the cinema, I groaned when Leia had her force moment. I think it was less that she has force abilities (frankly given her Family's apparent strength with the Force I've always been surprised she doesn't develop the...

Sort of tempted to take the day off and go to London for a protest.

Re: Rumours, news and general speculation
I've been watching on and off. I'm fortunate that in the UK it's being carried via Netflix as we have no real CBS presence so I just get it along with my most valued subscription. I'm very much in the "indifferent" category. I quite like it, obvious plot holes aside. But I struggle to rec...

Here's hoping it's nothing more sinister.

Re: Rumours, news and general speculation
Ignoring of course all the secrecy, black deltas and the very captain stating that they are on a secret mission to come up with a way to win the war? Secrecy and black deltas infer black ops, they don't explicitly state it. My original point was I don't remember it being explicitly stated; still do...

Garak's machiavellian planning, I think. If only I had the sense to be so organised when orchestrating my future!

Re: Guilty Pleasure Films
Pacific Rim..kaiju fun...wish more of it was in daylight! Hah, it is quite a difficult film to watch for the dark scenes. I think I like it because it feels really honest about what it is. The 'romance' is never more than implied (if heavily at the end), the dialogue is smooth and reasonably uncomf...

Re: True Trek Discovery
Throw the lead out the window. She's as likable as an ironing board and has none of the nuanced subtlety that a character of her upbringing and position should have. Spock is so likable because he maintains an almost perfect visage most of the time; it's the fleeting moments when that persona cracks...

Re: Rumours, news and general speculation
I'll have to rewatch but I don't remember there being any dialogue...at all confirming this to be Black Ops related etc. USS Glenn was performing the same experiments that USS Discovery is performing. Experiments that by all definitions are black ops / clandestine. Seems rather a leap to suggest pr...
