Re: Rumours, news and general speculation

Graham Kennedy wrote:I get the impression from interviews and such that the writers got kind of fed up with the late Trek era. They do seem to love the idea of prequels and *shudder* Starfleet Academy.

It was great game at least.

Re: Dawn of War III!!!

Is it just me or do the space marines in that trailer look completely wrong and out of proportion? The look more like eldar...long and thin......not a fan of this art-style to be honest. Comparing the intro trailers....in Dawn of War they had the proportions of the table top models, Dawn of War2 ac...

Dawn of War III!!!

So I posted this earlier in the Computer forum but I figured it couldn't hurt to x-post here: Dawn of War 3 is happening!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_ZgyNoHtjw That may just be a prerendered cinematic but: Our biggest units ever? Check. Giant orbital lasers? Check. Base-building, epic heroes...

For the Emperor!!!

Dawn of War 3 is happening!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_ZgyNoHtjw That may just be a prerendered cinematic but: Our biggest units ever? Check. Giant orbital lasers? Check. Base-building, epic heroes, huge battles, it's all in there," claimed Relic's Stephen MacDonald in a statement. htt...

Re: What is it about the 40k Universe that appeals to you?

The Lexicanum isn't exactly clear on that; is the Emperor himself consuming the psykers or is the chair directly powered by them somehow? The best impression I got is that their souls/psychic power were metaphysically consumed in a way of transferring their power into him. But it also kills the psy...

Re: What is it about the 40k Universe that appeals to you?

As you say, the Lore in general is incredibly diverse and equally hazy. I believe the Emperor has the strength to hold back the creatures of the warp due to his immense psychic fortitude; he really is a one in a trillion kind of Psyker. As for the "fueling", I believe it is stated in this...

Re: What is it about the 40k Universe that appeals to you?

Whether he is resurrected or not, his 'soul' is constantly laid bare for the warp anyway. Does this mean the warp beings can read his mind but he's just strong enough to hold them all back? Whether he is resurrected or not, his 'soul' is constantly laid bare for the warp anyway. It's purely his imm...

Re: What is it about the 40k Universe that appeals to you?

And by fluff I assume you mean handwavium/technobabble? The term "fluff" is used to denote the lore of the milieu apart from actual technical or mechanical gaming information. That is, "A 5-man squad of Space Marines costs x points to field" is game info - "Fulgrim was know...

Re: What is it about the 40k Universe that appeals to you?

We're still around, and this is a question I've been wondering too. Now, to some extent I think it's a matter of practicality. First and foremost WH40k is a tabletop wargame. It has spread out to books, video games, even a movie, but I suspect most fans were exposed to it in some game store and lik...

What is it about the 40k Universe that appeals to you?

So I looked at the Warhammer Lexicanum recently, because I appreciate stories crafted with deep lore and detailed worldbuilding. I read/skimmed a few articles, particularly about the Emperor of course, the Warp/Webway, Unifcation Wars (because I was interested in the history up to the Imperium), and...

Re: Spoileriffic Force Awakens Thread

Vader in the original movies always seemed like a somewhat sad figure to me, especially in the second two. He was evil, sure, but it never felt to me like he was driven by anger or the desire to do evil the way the Emperor was. Right, that was the good in him Luke was referring to and that's what l...

Sorry if I killed this thread, I guess no one else is as annoyed by that as I am? Or none of you see it as a problem?
