Firefox 34....

Anyone upgraded? Its ok for the most part, but I absolutely hate what they did to the search bar. Its not the drop down thats the problem, but the search button under the right click context menu itself used to automaticallly change depending on what you had selected in the search bar, and now you h...

Re: How are AMD Linux Drivers?

AMD drivers have, in my experience at least, always been rather unstable and poorly optimised. The power is there but the software to optimise it simply isn't. I'd always by Intel processors and Nvidia graphics for that very reason; the drivers and software are lightyears ahead, making a less power...

Re: A couple of issues with new system.

II haven't heard of issues of this sort attributed to SSD (assuming the drives are healthy). Which distribution of Linux did you try? What version of Windows is loaded (7/8/8.1)? Windows 7 Pro, I was trying to install Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS from a san disk usb drive. I showed the error to a friend and ...

A couple of issues with new system.

I got my first ssd not too long ago; a Crucial MX100 256GB. Got Windows set up on it and all, only to find out that a game that I love, Command and Conquer Red Alert 3, absolutely refused to work. I was getting errors like it could not find the program or something. Eventually I traced it to being a...

Re: Starfleet's starship look

The Vulcan design more scientifically accurate, at least according to recent theories.

Also I read somewhere the elongated saucer section design is supposed to help with subspace flow, being analogous to aerodynamics.

Hendo Hoverboard??

Um, what?

I'd like to believe but, this could so easily be a scam, like the "E-Cat" BS that iS STILL going on. Ugh.

Re: Anyone care about Windows 9

Oh be serious. One can't expect to be taken seriously once he starts to talk of wild conspiracy theories. Microsoft has tended to show respect for the end user's right to use Windows as they choose. Well that's good to know, I'm waiting for Windows 10 to get a new laptop. Besides, what will really ...

Re: Holodeck, v1

I see what you mean, I suppose I was pretty blind to it. Easily distracted by shiny objects I guess. :P I still think it should be considered some kind of first step. I just realized tho; if you added a 3d printer you would have (at very basic level) this: http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Molecular_co...

Re: Holodeck, v1

Yes, I get it - it's not a holodeck, because it's not "holo." I still think you're being a bit too literal, and ignoring the overarching use of the reference to indicate the somewhat Trekian nature of the adaptive and predictive display qualities. I'll say. Also, you apparently tot...

Holodeck, v1

http://www.fastcodesign.com/3036628/microsoft-can-now-turn-any-space-into-the-holodeck  And honestly, matter/energy conversion is way overkill. All you really need to simulate physicality is some kind of direct neural input, or a cloud of nano machines, or potentially something else; anyway t...

Re: Anyone care about Windows 9

You know what I find kind of amusing (not anyone here, but the idea)? Cloud computing is Star Trek. The magic technology that we see on TV really is the epitome of cloud based computing. Um, how so? They just have very powerful computers. Ok, every ship has an extremely powerful central server sure...

Re: Anyone care about Windows 9

Well I'm glad you guys can be so positive about it, I still don't like this move toward the cloud, I think local apps will likely go away eventually but I hope I'm wrong. If Windows 10 does allow local accounts then cool, I will wait to buy any convertibles/windows tablets until they come with Windo...

Re: Anyone care about Windows 9

Isn't that essentially what Google Chrome Laptops are doing at the minute? Your machine just runs the web browser and everything runs off that? Essentially yes but, so what? Doesn't apply to me since I don't use Chrome. :P They've already stated that the final build will have local accounts, they j...
