Re: The "creator hypothesis"

Oh definitely, I mainly just meant it in the sense of "not a Christian" as in that chain letter. His family was nonreligious, and as best I can tell, he ended up adopting a pantheistic worldview.

Re: The "creator hypothesis"

And guess what, he wrote no such book either. The whole thing is debunked at Snopes and elsewhere; for God's sake, never put any stock in anything sent to you in a chain letter. (I could be misinformed, but I've never read that he went through a Christian phase.)

Re: Enterprise races

Also introduced a number of races that by all rights should have been seen in the foregoing series according to their presentation in ENT, but weren't. :P I think the Denobulans are the worst case, because it looked like they were very close to Earth (by later standards), in very early contact with...

Alexander Nevsky

Has anyone here seen Alexander Nevsky ? It's a film made in 1938 by Sergey Eisenstein, one of the greatest Russian directors, depicting the defeat of the Teutonic Knights by the 13th century Russian prince Alexander Nevsky. It was produced as a pretty blunt piece of Stalinist propaganda, but it's st...

Falling Skies

TNT is launching a new show called Falling Skies, about people living after an alien invasion. I'm not too impressed by the trailer - it looks like a generic rehash of well-worn alien invasion and survival tropes.

Re: Weird trouble?

Anybody else ever have this problem? Once in a very great while when I type ditl.org/forum into my address bar, I will be taken to http://www.yeah.com/forum, and told there's been an error. Any ideas? I'm using Firefox 3.6.13 -- it happened before I upgraded as well. I've had this happen to me in t...

Re: Best commercials

My favorite commercial ever. The catchiness of the song-and-dance routine, the gleeful lack of irony... it's just perfect.
