Re: Small-minded, petty things you hate...
When I'm out of the hustle and bustle of the city, and enjoying some quiet time at my alternate location: the neighbor kid kicks his ball against MY fence for hours at a time...probably a latch-key kid with zero parental supervision and/or parents just don't give a sh*t. In time, the fence will bre...

Re: Small-minded, petty things you hate...
When there's traffic, and someone playing loud, bass-heavy music with their windows down. I ain't impressed with that pathetic scream for attention. I'm trying to get where I'm going without my ears being molested in this stressful situation. Lol yeah, and loud exhausts as well. Behaviour like that...

Small-minded, petty things you hate...
OK, I admit it. I'm a middle-aged man who's becoming grumpier by the day. I'm the one with the problem, not everyone else. That said... What are some things that really annoy you that deep down you know you've no right to get annoyed at? Here's a few of mine to get started: People who use the word '...

Re: Why in the USA?
Why in the USA... The tipping culture. Just...why? I understand how it works. People in the service industry get paid as little as their employer can get away with paying them and therefore expect their paying customer to make up the rest of the money they need to survive. And I get that if everyone...

Trek and your everyday life
Do you find Trek influences your everyday life? If so, how? Explain the ways it does. Whether as a metaphor of Trek or actual canon stuff. My bedside Amazon Alexa responds to 'computer'. I cannot not say it in a Voyage Home Scotty voice. Not only that, but I've created a routine that when I say, 'co...

Re: Picard s02e01 (Spoilers)
Just watched it. Bit of a mess really. Nothing flowed. Too many scenes for what appeared to be scene's sake. Lots of fan service. USS Uhura and Sulu? Lol. I have a feeling E1 sets the tone for the rest of the series. Still. I'd watch anything with Patrick Stewart and John DeLancie in it :laughroll:

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?
Well I have internet and just used it to watch S02E01 of Picard. If nothing else it was nice to see a very familiar face right at the end.

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?
Welcome back. I'm not sure you know that Graham passed away. Just thought I would say before getting into other things. S1 of Picard was... different. Kinda nice to see the faces back, but. STD is also pretty poor. I've seen all of it and it's not really getting better. Good to see you back. Ian Th...

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?
So what have you terrible people been up to in my absence? Only joking; no one will remember me anyway 🤣. Just thought I'd drop in and say, 'hi'. I wonder how many of the people I remember will still be active on the board? I was thinking of you all recently while thinking (just thinking) about wat...

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?
Season 2 of Picard isn't really up to much, yet I put myself through it nonetheless. I am unable to watch any more of Discovery (seen three seasons) as it is not available in the UK, and even when it is, I will never pay for a Paramount subscription as I don't have the funds. The problem with conte...

Re: Discovery Season Three
On the whole, I'm enjoying Discovery s3. Hell, I enjoyed seasons s1 and s2 as well. Hell, I'll watch any Trek :D But leaving aside the obvious accusations of it being, for want of a kinder phrase, woke , I do wish they'd dial down the emotional milking a bit though. Trek to me is about provoking dee...

Re: Graham
I haven't been around in a long, long time either, but, Ian, having just discovered the news myself, I can only offer you and your family my deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences. Between the two of you, you built an environment enjoyed by so many, and in very much the style and spirit of the...
