Re: Rumours, news and general speculation

I personally am not watching for the sole reason that I refuse to subscribe to CBSAA for only one show, even if the pilot had blown me away. That's why I haven't really commented on any episodes since the first and won't. That said, I vote go for it. I'm genuinely curious to know what people think ...

Re: Rumours, news and general speculation

So before I get excited and start posting about different episode/aspects of Star Trek (heaven forbid we discuss a new Star Trek series on a Star Trek forum), I want to do a quick roll call: Who is actually watching the show and who is writing it off as #notmystartrek? Frankly, as much as I'd like ...

Re: Original Kirk Death

As far as being celebrated afterwards, has there been any Star Fleet ship named after a Star Trek character to date? I'm a bit fuzzy on those kind of details. There's been an Excelsior -class USS Gorkon , and one of the ships lost at Wolf 359 was the USS Chekhov , although there's some dispute over...

Re: Pilot

If nothing else, it confirmed something for me that he suspected for a long time: No one hates new ideas in Trek more than Trekkies. I'm on mobile so I won't say too much now but I'll try to put up something cohesive about my initial reaction in a day or two. Suffice it to say: I'm intrigued enough ...

Vladimir Putin is traveling to Hamburg for the G20 summit. At the boarder he is met by a Customs officer who asks: "Occupation?"

He replies, " No, just visiting."

*pours a drink to all those we've lost* Rochey Chakat Deep Tsu Mark Monroe Lord Harry Granite I too often wonder what happened to them. Some of them we know what happened. Others just kind of disappeared. Forgotten log-in info? Tired of the population? A couple of them were since in our RPs. So, if...

Re: Colin Trevorrow steps fown from directing Episode 9

Anybody's guess as to the truth of the "mutual decision" story. However, methinks this is a clear indication that Disney decided to go ahead before any clear definition of the film was conceived. A friend of mine speculated that the fact that his Book of Henry film evidently crashed and b...

Re: Rumours, news and general speculation

All true. Again, though, on a positive note, if they do actually incorporate some elements of The Final Reflection into the Klingons (big if, I know), that will raise my estimation of at least that element of the show immensely. Apparently the Final Reflection was required reading for the writers ....

Re: Another US Destroyer collision

I've never piloted a boat before... but how hard can it be to avoid large objects in decent weather? To my unknowledgeable self, it seems like crashing your auto in an empty parking lot (aside form the other car) while going 5 mph. I imagine something like this http://www.youtube.com/embed/FXEoe8_C...

Re: Rumours, news and general speculation

Or maybe he's right... It's not his job to worry about what the "die hard" fans think. He's there to play the Captain of the Discovery. If he does well, the show will gain fans. If he does poorly it'll lose fans. The die hard don't really factor into that. He's not playing a part of an old...

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?

Today I felt compelled to post McCoy's line about evil triumphing unless good is very, very careful as (not so)subtle commentary on Facebook. Of all the things I've had to deal with thanks to the Trump presidency, near the to is him forcing me to appreciate Kirk's soapbox moment at the end of that ...
