Re: OK, which one of you is behind this?
Just to show a comparison between those guys and what fans do. Already I'm impressed with the amount of detail poured into this. I wonder, would the mindset of the 1960s continue, with the cultural mindset of the times, or is it an as faithful emulation as they can get?
Re: Gravity
Now that this is out, is it any good, or should I wait for the rental version, or even take a music player with Strauss in a loop to look at the pretty pictures?

An interesting, but nonetheless predictable twist on the situation: http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/09 ... 59837.html

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?
Keeping up Appearances. I want to one-up that one with the spiritual middle english equivalent and quite obscure one, the book of Margery Kempe. It is basically the same plot, including the suffering husband, her endless rants, vicars shuddering at her sight, her emotional outbursts, her trying to ...

Re: 28 Things That Happened After The Harry Potter Books End
Part of it is WB handicapped themselves by starting the films while new books were still coming out, so new info could influence and even change the outcome of the story. Another factor was that different directors produce different styles and more important perhaps, this is also a coming-of-age sto...

I did that in the cinema once. Totally worth it.McAvoy wrote:I need to rewatch the whole series in order and all at once. I never did that.

Good one. For those wanting to explore the series even deeper, I heartil recommend pottermore. It's a bit childish in it's setup, but hugely enjoyable.

Re: If you could make a Trek series...
How about a bit more of civilian life. It is always depicted as a sort of paradise, but sounds more like a crapsaccharine world to me. When Lily asked how much the Enterprise cost in First Contact the immediate answer was 'there is no money in the Federation' or something along those lines. Almost a...

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?
Well, my kids were helping me get something ready to bake. When we were done, my 4-year-old son asked me if he could lick the bowl. Sounds pretty normal, right? Only, we were making meatballs. Of course, this is the same child who asks for pork roll for breakfast - when I ask him what he'd like to ...

Because you're copycats? We also have a city called Harlingen, but it's a little older and a good deal smaller.Tsukiyumi wrote:A lot of those would also apply to Texas, just so you know.shran wrote:This one's about my place. Also pretty accurate.

Re: Gerry Anderson dies
I've never seen much of his work, but what I've seen, I liked. I grew up with it. Not on the first run, obviously, but the reruns of the big three in the early 90s spawned a new generation of Andersonverse fans, and I was right in the middle of it. That's where my fascination with analysing the tec...
