Re: The Last Jedi - spoileriffic thread

Also it's just as clearly a suicide mission for whatever crew was left (in this case, just one). Besides the fact it's not unduly hard to wrangle up a suicide bomber in real life, there appears to be no reason these ships couldn't be automated such that the number of crew sent on a suicide mission ...

Re: The Last Jedi - spoileriffic thread

Yeah, we never saw Laura Dern's character before. There was also no need for us to know her sexual orientation either, unless there was supposed to be more in her scenes with Leia than simply friendship.

Re: The Last Jedi - spoileriffic thread

Empire Strikes Back was the first I saw, at least in its entirety. I might have seen bits of A New Hope on the television or on a home-recorded VHS tape. It was around the time that my interest in Star Trek was starting to bloom. Star Wars and Babylon 5 (which was just starting) were both secondary....

Re: The Last Jedi - spoileriffic thread

I really enjoyed the movie even with the flaws. Leia in space was the big one for me, but at least she still required medical attention once she got back aboard the ship. Regarding Laura Dern's character... Yes, Poe's mutiny could have been avoided if she had just explained her plan, but I just took...

Re: When Spock screamed "Khaaaaan!" what was your reaction?

:roll: --> :picard:

I actually liked the exchange before Spock yells, mirroring Spock's death scene in Wrath of Khan. But then, Spock yells and ruins the moment. I bet the writers thought it was clever and it would be funny, but it was ill-timed and out of character.

Re: Why Aren't the Bajorans Super Advanced?

Makes sense. Especially with what Picard says in "Emissary" about factions renewing old grievances. There was probably a lot of tension and distrust between these castes.

Molly's Age

Molly O'Brien was born during TNG's "Disaster", early in Season 5. A year later, during TNG S6/DS9 S1, she's 3 years old.

I'm thinking some sort of transporter "accident" that Miles and Keiko never talk about, perhaps in attempt to skip over the terrible twos.

Re: RAMPAGE - OFFICIAL TRAILER 1 [HD]

I enjoyed the game. More specifically, I enjoyed watching my brother play it on our Amiga when we were younger--I could never get my monster to eat anything.

As for this movie... It does look fun, though one should definitely keep disbelief suspended. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

Re: Physics Says No, and other scientific anomalies

Every external spaceship shot ever with the sounds of the engines, weapons, et. al. blaring. That only bothers me if the characters react to the sounds, like Uhura reacted to the sound of the second torpedo fired at Kronos 1 in Star Trek 6. For me... Jurassic Park--the first and each subsequent mov...

Re: Stargate: The Film

All in all I preferred the SG-1 take, but the books are an interesting "what might have been". Apparently there's a new movie or series in development which is a sequel to the original, and ignores the SG-1-verse entirely! Those movies have been placed on hold indefinitely as Roland Emmer...

Re: Favorite Movie Soundtracks (or parts of them)

How to Train Your Dragon (John Powell) -- The whole soundtrack is amazing, but I especially love the "Forbidden Friendship" and "Test Drive" pieces. How to Train Your Dragon 2 (John Powell) -- A perfect follow-up on the first movie. My particular favorite here was "Toothles...

Re: Blu-ray Tweaks

I had hoped that they had managed to correct the 3d model of the refit Consitution. The one seen throughout the first season with the backward warp nacelles. But, I guess not. Huh? The 3D refit constitution in TNG? The silver one. http://tng.trekcore.com/gallery/albums/s1/1x26/neutralzone138.jpg
