Re: Voyager Technical Manual (Mine)

What we were told in the pilot was that "They organise information more efficiently, speed up response time." So they don't necessarily process information at a higher rate as such, it's more like they organise it so that less processing is needed and so the task takes less time to complete.

Re: Today I Watched...

Today I watched... Tentacles I was listening to a review of Jaws and they mentioned how so many copycat movies came out in the following years, all of them bad. I had one of those little lightbulb moments - what's the worst Jaws ripoff? I had to find it and watch it! Google returned "Tentacles&...

Re: Voyager Technical Manual (Mine)

Hmm, maybe they did that rewrite anyway. Or I'm just remembering wrong.

Re: Voyager Technical Manual (Mine)

I seem to remember reading that the Voyager TM as written was basically a stopgap, literally the TNG manual with some minimal changes to fit Voyager rather than a Galaxy. Had they got approval to do a manual for sale, they were going to go through and do a major re-write on it.

Re: Picard spoileriffic discussion of the actual episodes

So there's a question... does Picard himself have any Borg parts left inside him? He was only a Borg for a couple of days, and Beverly did say she could remove the parts... but every single one?

Re: Picard spoileriffic discussion of the actual episodes

So episode five. Still slow paced, but at least things are beginning to happen somewhat, so that's good. It's become very noticeable to me just how much of a "useless old man" Picard is on this show. I was talking about this earlier, and he really reminds me of Luke in The Last Jedi some; ...

Re: Cool Picture Thread

I love the idea that you could just map everything the other way up. It took me a while after watching this to really grasp it. I was like "but north is at the top of the planet!" Except that, no, it isn't. Nothing in nature makes north the "top" of the world, it's just the top b...

Re: Today I Watched...

Today I Watched... Dark Encounter I like me some UFO movies, and I usually don't mind if they're bad so long as they're entertainingly bad. This one is kind of good... in that it's well made, well acted, and it's ultimately a twist on the UFO/aliens thing that could have been interesting. Trouble is...

Re: "Why Didn't Voyager Use The Bajoran Wormhole?"

Is the title supposed to attract attention when everyone here know Voyager and Bajoran Wormhole are in two different quadrant? Arguably, Voyager was closer to the far end of the Bajoran wormhole than it was to the Federation. The thing is, we don't actually know where the far end of the Bajoran wor...

Re: Today I Watched...

Today I watched... Horror Express. One of those old Christopher Lee/Peter Cushing movies. This one has a sci-fi bent; Lee is a scientist type who digs up a 2 million year old fossil in the depths of Siberia. It's an early ape-human, the supposed "missing link" people believed in then. The ...
