Re: There... are... TWO... moons!
Article says the capture is only temporary, and it's already winging off back into deep space. So no danger.

Re: Today I Watched...
You know, I'd really love to see a couple of the Brit Navy movies get a big buget remake. I'd love to see Battle of the River Plate and Sink the Bismark with proper quality CGI battles in them. I now it'll never happen - no audience for it - but man, that would be fun.

Re: Picard spoileriffic discussion of the actual episodes
Since the episode establishes very clearly that the technology absolutely requires the use of an entire 20km thick planetary mantle made of tetrahedral quartz in order to function, one wonders how they make it work at all. But I guess they just :Q it and it works without the mantle. Nice to know the...

There... are... TWO... moons!
Source This is going to sound preposterous, but I promise it’s true: Earth has another moon. It is not the kind that will illuminate the night sky. It’s invisible to the naked eye and too tiny to do any classic moon moves, like tugging on the planet’s oceans. But it’s there, orbiting the Earth, acc...

Re: Picard spoileriffic discussion of the actual episodes
Even what we've seen of the civilian government was little different. You might get the occasional Vash, but the enormous majority of Federation folk were the "good guys" of the universe. And I don't think you're going to get your Federation redemption. I'm not even sure the Federation wil...

Re: "TERMINATOR 6: Dark Fate" Trailer (2019)
I saw this recently, didn't hate it, didn't love it. Yeah, there isn't a whole lot of SJW stuff. You have JC swapped out for a girl, you have a girl "protector", you have a few comments disparaging the idea that a woman's value is in her reproductive system, etc. But it's not that obnoxiou...

Re: Picard spoileriffic discussion of the actual episodes
Had you just posted the Remmick pic without the preceding bit of a straw man, I'd have said "touche!", and made reference to other icky bits like the Ceti Alpha eels or the bloody worm choke of ST3. Of course, the producers heard a lot of protest about the TNG exploding head, with the epi...

Today I Watched... This Island Earth A classic bit of sci-fi, This Island Earth concerns Cal Meacham, a rugged and manly scientist type who is working on a process to convert Lead into Uranium. Yes, no less than transmutation! As he's flying back to his lab (in a jet that the government apparently j...

Re: Picard spoileriffic discussion of the actual episodes
You are, because this isn't. The Star Trek Original Universe is not changed by these new continuities. Or, put another way, "Land of song, said the warrior-bard, Though all the world betrays thee, One sword, at least, thy rights shall guard, One faithful harp shall praise thee." You and I...

Re: Picard spoileriffic discussion of the actual episodes
Well, I had to return to this site after a bit of "travelling"... What brought me back? Star Trek Picard. Boy oh boy oh boy am I torn about this show. I really, really, really want to like it. The character "Jean-Luc Picard" has been one of my favourite TV characters of a...
