H.R. Giger died last night

I just saw the news today. It's sad because he died in a simple accident.

He'll be best remembered for his xenomorph design.

That was unfortunate. It took me about three watches to understand how he managed to hit the guy's head before realising he was wearing a yellow cap. :laughroll:

Re: Is the Animated Series made for adults or kids?

Oh well, I said previously that 'Yesteryear' is a highlight of the series, but I couldn't find it on YouTube and I only wanted to provide some sort of reference that is free to view and evaluate. But I am sure a more thorough search on the web is in order if one wants to find TAS online for free, sh...

Re: Is the Animated Series made for adults or kids?

I just did a very quick search on YouTube and I found one complete episode at random.

The Slaver Weapon

I don't remember the episode and I don't have time to watch it, but you'll make an idea about the animation and other stuff.

Re: Find Out Just Exactly How Pretty You Are With Anaface

Just speaking personally, I find beauty to be in the flaws... I agree completely. But to be realistic, I like these flaws to be minor, and the overall aspect of the person not to be very divergent from the norm. It is great when you can discover something a bit off, not when the whole world ...

Re: Augments

In my opinion TNG is a bit outdated in its way of thinking. Let us not forget it was a late 80s - early 90s show, and so much has changed since then in our understanding of genetics. We may be not much closer to creating super humans, but we do have a better idea of what it would take and how we sho...

Indeed, a tragic weekend. However safety in F1 has become much more important after those two accidents. Although safety did come at the cost of less spectacular races.

Re: Public remains poorly educated about science

I think a lot of is that people just literally dont think about it, and havent thought about it for years, so when put on the spot they are like "Yeah the sun goes around the Earth, I see it happen every day" but when you take a second to talk to them they realise their mistake. I don't b...

Re: Star Trek Un-remastered

I only ever watched the remastered episodes of TOS, but I think seeing them as they were initially would be great. I can't add any episode in particular to your list, but I think all of them are worth a go in their original format.

Re: The Star Trek Economy

All very good opinions, here. If we look now at what TOS portrayed as the 23rd century, I think we would agree it was nowhere bold enough. I believe we are going to be much more technologically advanced by then, unless something catastrophic happens to us before. And even that would only limit the s...

Re: Is the Animated Series made for adults or kids?

I saw Star Trek The Animated Series (TAS) a long time ago, but from what I can remember, there were just a few duds among the episodes. Most of them were good enough and not necessarily for kids. The episode 'Yesteryear' was particularly appreciated by viewers. I would recommend the series. I can't ...

Re: SF Debris: The Doomsday Machine

OK, we are not shown on screen - but then the 'redshirt dying' is already a motif that has transcended the Star Trek universe and has become popular culture. I guess that budget constraints, time constraints and what not didn't allow for a better depiction of danger than some random guy being killed...

Re: Religion in general

It is probably not so out of the ordinary that we here share common opinions on religion - science fiction fans will be science-oriented and this sort of pushes away the religious aspect. I watched a very short version of the Bill Nye vs Ken Ham debate, and was pretty much nonplussed. They agreed th...
