It's a guilty pleasure, but I really enjoy "Hell's Kitchen" - if it's not available outside the US, it's areality elimination-type showing featuring contestants suffering under the tutelage of the BBC's Chef Gordon Ramsey. I also enjoy House, but I agree that it's Laurie that makes the sho...

I also like DBS' concept, although it would have been (fairly) easy, and in complete continuity, to use a Daedalus or something similar. However, as has been said before, continuity never really seemed to be an issue with the Enterprise franchise. I had at one time sent an extensive e-mail to Mr. Ke...

I almost forgot - if anyone is into classics, Richmond Lattimore's translations of The Iliad and The Odyssey are incredible. Lattimore's analyses and commentaries on both the form and the content of the epics are brilliant, and the translations are head and shoulders above any other versions I've re...

faves

if anyone is into horror, a la Poe, or fantasy such as Dunsany, read every damn thing by H. P. Lovecraft that you can get your mitts on! He was one of the greats EVER! Although his style is a little wordy by modern standards, his fiction goes down like an old Chateau Mouton-Rothschild - with no hang...

brian herbert's books

Leave well enough alone. I've read most of the prequels which Brian Herbert wrote with Anderson, and they are as much worse than the originals as "G-d Emperor of Dune was than the original Dune." Don't waste the bathroom time to read them.

using sticks and stones

That's got nothing to do with intelligence - sharks don't use sticks and stones because they've got no thumbs. Chimps aren't building any spacecraft, but they use tools... without domesticating fire.

I agree - that's why you keep your late-model capital ships on the frontiers.

Teaos' idea also fits with GK's theory that starships construct their own modular shuttles. I also think that a warp drive (and fuel supply, etc.) could be EXPONENTIALLY rather than arithmetically smaller as you scale down the size of the driven vehicle, so a sub-floor unit could make sense for a sh...

Even if Starfleet was using anything at hand, using those "anything at hand" ships to station at your core worlds would be better than what they're using currently, which seems to be NOTHING!

using Stukas

The Bf-109 (When those planes were built, it was Bayeurische Fleugzugwerke, not Messerschmidt) was one of the top air-to-air combat planes of WWII, but was just not capable of mounting anything as large and heavy as the cannons on the Stukas looked. Any Luftwaffe plane of the time capable of mountin...

ships around Earth?

I understand not wanting to keep your latest model capital ships sitting around waiting by Earth; but if movie-era ships were pressed into use for the Dominion War in DS9, wouldn't it make sense that these older ships which are not ready for retirement be used to bolster the non-border, relatively q...

BTW, I had also thought about including something of the Earth - Romulan war which was hinted at in TOS: "Balance of Terror" - kudos for including that in an ep idea.

spare parts in finale

Having Riker and Troi just made it feel like they could only get Frakes and Sirtis, and added the USS Pegasus stuff just to justify having those two characters in it. Better there should have been no TNG (or other franchise) reference at all, and used the extra time to SHOW US ARCHER'S @#$!$ SPEECH!...
