The Enterprise encounters the planet Aldea, long believed to be a myth. The Aldeans abduct several children from the ship, planning to use them as a basis to repopulate their planet. The Enterprise crew determine that the advanced technology of the Aldeans has rendered them extinct, and is able to recover the children and help the Aldeans begin to change their lives to cure the problem.
