Farpoint Station
The Farpoint Starbase. Claimed to have been constructed by the Bandi, the base was highly advanced and luxurious even by Federation standards - suspicious, as the Bandi themselves were patently incapable of building such a base. Investigating the mystery was the first mission of the Enterprise-D. The base proved to be not a 'real' structure at all, but rather a massive shape-shifting lifeform that the Bandi had captured. Captain Picard freed the creature and negotiated a deal to construct a replacement base. [1]
