The USS Defiant lays a field of self-replicating cloaked mines around the entrance to the Bajoran Wormhole. This type of mine was invented specifically for the task by a Ferengi Engineer. This action led to the Dominion attack on Deep Space 9 and the start of the Dominion War. [1]
