These duplicates are described as clones, which means they were created from the DNA of the original person. So why on Earth are they 20 or 30 feet tall? Your height depends in large part on your DNA, if they are duplicates of the original they should be about the same size. Amazingly, the episode gives no hint of exactly what made the clone so huge.
Worst Moment :
Giant Spock!
Factoid :
The Retlaw plant is named for writer Walter Koenig - Retlaw is Walter written backwards.

My year for this episode is estimated from the Stardate; it is one of a group of TAS episodes set between 'For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky' and 'Is There in Truth no Beauty?'

This episode is a winner of the DITL "Worst of Trek" award.

Plotline

Sulu is poisoned whilst visiting the planet Phylos, but his life is saved by the inhabitants. The Phylosians worship the giant clone of a human from the 20th century, Dr. Starros Keniclius. Determined to enforce galactic peace, Keniclius abducts Spock and clones him also so that the giant can act as a peacemaker. Left dying by the cloning process, Spock has only one chance - a mind meld from his giant clone. But can Kirk talk clone-Spock and Keniclius around?

Analysis

Oh dear. The idea that somebody wants to create a race of giant Spocks in order to force peace on the Federation, an organisation which is devoted to peace anyway... the absurdity of it simply drowns out any kind of point the episode is trying to make.
