Plotline

Enterprise pays a courtesy visit to a planet with a colony of several thousand alien miners. Unfortunately, on the way down the shuttlepod ignites a gas released by the mining process, setting off a huge explosion which destroys the whole colony. The Vulcans convince Starfleet to recall the ship and close down their program of space exploration for another ten or twenty years, plunging Archer into depression and self-doubt. But an unexpected temporal visitor offers a way out of the dilemma - one which will bring Archer into direct conflict with the Suliban and threaten Mankind's future.
