The origin of the shape is lost to history, but it is believed that it was the result of a particularly messy session and resulting family feud that begin in Denobulan Divorce Court (see: Settling out of Court for sake of one's life). The Denobulan released this unique weapon with the confidence that it would strike utter terror in their enemies, but there was a wee problem with the color chosen...
